Gold Coast is located in Queensland state and it is a tourist town. While you are there you have the feeling of vacation, where most of the people are passing through. The weather is warmer than the other places I visited in Australia and it is an invitation to open air activities. The city has nice beaches, thematic parks, bars, restaurants and lots of other entertainment options.
We arrived at night and went straight to the hostel, where we found a place near by to buy something to eat and went to sleep to wake up early the next day. Around 8 o’clock we left to Byron Bay, approximately one and a half hour we did with a rented car. On the way there we stopped in a beach frequented by locals, on the border between the states of New South Wales e Queensland, in the city of Tweed Heads.
As soon as we arrived in Byron Bay we headed to the lighthouse. The place gives an awesome view of the city and has trails where you walk and can go to some of the beaches around.
Leaving there we went to downtown, where we ate an awesome kebab and headed to the beach to enjoy the day while it was sunny. Around 5 p.m. we walked through town, saw some of the local market and bought some souvenir and went back to Gold Coast where we had time to return the car.
Next day we left the hostel to explore the city walking, Surfers Paradise was a 10 minutes walk that we did by the beach. We had breakfast, watched some of the shows that were going on around there, did some shopping and took a lot of pictures. At night we returned to Surfers to eat a sandwich and have a drink in Hard Rock Cafe.
On the next morning we headed to Skypoint Observation Deck, which is the tallest building in Gold Coast and the tallest residential building in the world. They have a cafeteria on top where they offer an option of breakfast buffet along with your entrance. It was such a great deal, because there was a big variety of food and it tasted amazing, experience was completed with the view which was even better.
We ate, took some pictures and saw they have an option to go all the way up on the pole which we chose not to do because we had other plans for the day. We left there and took a traim and a bus to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, to see the typical australian animals. We fed cangurus and took picture with the coalas.
Next day it was already time to go to our next destination which was Sydney and to enjoy our last hours on town we walked on the beach and once started raining we went to the mall. We left there to pick up our stuff and go to the airport and next post I will tell you about Sydney. See you soon!
